I went down to the BBC Radio Centre for a Second time before I have even left for China to be a part of the Sunday Newspaper Review. I had to go down look through a pile of today's Newspapers and pick out articles that stood out. So then we talked about the various articles and then we chatted about my trip to China and what it will involve.

The main theme of my performances have been based on cultural appreciation and how the doversity of opinions especially is a fascinating one. I touch on the the differences between countries and it just highlights how the world is getting closer and smaller, yet the differences and the quirks of each culture sets them apart. And it's funny as well so it's worth the watch ;) (the date just states my last performance)

A Plymouth student has been chosen to go to China this summer to discover more about the new global economy.
Luke Garside, 18, will spend two weeks staying with a Chinese family, two weeks attending a local school and two weeks as a guest of a global company in China as part of the Prime Minister's Global Fellowship programme.
Luke is head boy at St Boniface's Catholic College in Manadon Park, Plymouth.
He is one of only 100 young people chosen to take part in the scheme – and will travel to China on July 21 as one of the Prime Minister's Global Fellows.
The programme is designed to help young people understand emerging economies.
St Boniface's director of sixth form Stewart O'Donnell said: "We are proud of Luke's achievement.
"He is an exemplary student who has contributed to his school and local community for the past eight years.
"Now he has the opportunity to take his abilities to the global stage."

A PUPIL at St Boniface’s Catholic College in Manadon Park has been selected to represent the UK under the Prime Minister’s Global Fellowship programme.
Luke Garside, who is preparing to take his A-levels at the school next week, is one of only 100 young people in the country taking part in the scheme as a ‘global fellow’.
Under the project, the 18-year-old — who is head boy at St Boniface’s — will travel to China on July 21 to ‘investigate’ issues of culture, language, education and global enterprise.
He will spend two weeks on a cultural programme learning about the life and language of China, then two weeks in a school or college teaching English and completing a research project with Chinese students, and finally two weeks with an international company experiencing first hand how the global economy works.
On his return he will automatically become part of a network of young people in England to sharing his experiences and learning in order to raise awareness of global issues.
Luke said: “It is a privilege to have been chosen to represent the country in China.
“I’m looking forward to experiencing a new culture, the language and the food!
“While there I will be keeping a blog online, and uploading photographs of my trip.
“My teachers have built my confidence over the past eight years and I’m ready to take the world by storm!”
The Prime Minister’s Global Fellowship programme is designed to nurture outstanding talent and enterprise among young people.

Take a trip of a lifetime with global fellowship

An article in a local paper explaining the PMGF and its aims with some quotes from me including: 'What we all experienced out there had rather a profound effect on our outlook on life. Throughout the trip two processes were constantly apparent, globalisation and rapid economic growth ... The whole programme is inspired by the change that is taking place in these incomprehensibly large economies ... Gordon Brown sent out 100 people last summer and 100 people came back with a lot of messages, but the loudest by far was this: 'don't look at yourself as a young person in the UK, look at yourself as a young person in the whole of the world.'

I had 3 articles published in my local newspaper, The Morpeth Herald. The first was published just after I had received my letter of acceptance from Downing Street and talked about the purpose of the scheme and what I would be doing in China. It also contained some personal background information and what I wanted to gain fro mthe course and how I would apply it later in life. The second two articles were published whilst I was in China and contained diary entries of what I had been up to and my feeligs on the scheme. The final article was published in the same newspaper as the reports on the Morpeth floods which reached national headlines, this edition went on to sell record amounts.

The Mumbai Fellows paid a visit to the HQ of MTV India and met Ashish Patil, Vice-President at MTV India.
We were also unexpectedly asked to be special guests on MTV WASSUP, : "Don’t conform. Change. Be the change with ‘Youngistaan Times’ a weekly segment that gives citizens of youngistaan a chance to contribute their own news."
So much fun was had making the short programme.
Our thanks go to all the MTV Staff and Crew who made the day incredibly enjoyable for us.

I was able to use a local radio station to discuss the Prime Minister's Global Fellowship. I was able to use this opportunity to inform the youth in and around Eastbourne about the programme and what I hoped to get out of the experience. Whilst in India I noticed how radio was a way of reaching out to the youth.

Before I embarked on the 6 week programme I was able to get an article in local papers. The article touched upon the purpose of the programme, what I hoped to get out of my experiences and also how you can apply for next years PMGF. (Please see link for article.) My college at the time then included the article on their website.
